Ferrari has revealed images of their 458 Spider ahead of its official launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The big news is the step away from norm that Ferrari has taken with this class of convertible. Instead of a fabric roof, Ferrari has made use of a metal folding roof. Quite a beautiful folding system in fact. With the roof up, the car looks almost identical to its fixed hard top brother. Ferrari have also worked their magic and designed the roof to be 25kg lighter than an equivalent soft top roof.
However the car is still 50kg heavier than the fixed hard top. Despite this slight weight gain, the 458 is still capable of reaching 60mph in 3.4 seconds and will reach a top speed of 198mph as opposed to the 202mph that the hard top is capable of.Check out this video of the 458 Spider in action:Ferrari 458 Spider
